ECO 2 Web

Option 2 / Concept Design

Our project proposal for ECO 2 is a web portal that gathers together those companies which help to support sustainable development. We think it's a realistic approach and fairly easy to execute as well as easy on budget.

The main points:

- Promote flea markets
--> Buying second hand is green

- Promote cobbler's shops and other repair services
--> Fixing old products is green

- Promote workshops for handicraft (DIY)
--> Making things such as clothes by yourself is green

The goal is to make more people aware of the possibilities to buy second-hand products and repair used ones. In today's society people are encouraged to buy a new product whenever the old one falls apart, whether it is a television or a pair of pants. We want to make people more aware what effects this kind of activity has on the planet. To emphasize this, we have created a script/storyboard for a video to publish in all the channels. The portal strives to deliver the core message in form of a powerful video and gives all the relevant information how one can change the world a bit with personal lifestyle choices.

The long-term goal is to polish the image of flea markets, even brand them and raise interest in Do-It-Yourself-culture.

We have an idea that later this project could be widely expanded and it would help to create a whole new kind of flea market -concept. It would work as self-service, but the clothes and other products would be arranged in the order of the purpose of use. This is something we don't really have in Finland and we would like to make it work so even those people who generally don't visit flea markets, would be attracted to visit them.

To get the message out there, the portal needs to be marketed to the target audience. Our target group is everyone between 15-35 years of age.

The channels:

- Website (with integrated social media -links)
- Facebook-page
- YouTube-channel with promotional videos, also videos of workshops are possible
- Guerrilla marketing (posters around the city)

Website and Facebook-page are the main channels which are used to communicate the information on the partner companies, their promotions and how to find them.

Visual style:

- Cartoonish, colourful, earthly, easy to approach
